July 16, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
FreeLearn all about artist Onajide Shabaka’s archival art practice as we move throughout North Miami, discovering and documenting histories, textures and sites using Polaroid cameras. We will then walk through Liberty Gardens and end at Paradis Books and Bread, where under Shabaka’s instruction, we will create a piece of artwork inspired from the “meandering geography” and incorporate an element of printmaking or collage.
The event starts at 5 p.m. The walk with Onajide Shabaka will start at 5:30 p.m. This event is FREE and open to the public. ** LIMITED CAPACITY — Register in advance here: https://111401.blackbaudhosting.com/111401/Art-on-the-Plaza–Artist-Walk-and-Talk-with-Onajide-Shabaka?mc_cid=24645b3a9a&mc_eid=UNIQID
Onajide Shabaka’s installation “Her Touch Smooths Rough Waters” is currently on view on MOCA Plaza. It is the first commission for this season of Art on the Plaza. The museum inaugurated “Art on the Plaza,” a series of temporary public art installations on MOCA’s plaza, to invite artists to activate the space and connect the museum to the community.
Art on the Plaza is presented by MOCA, with major support from the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA).
